GAHS EVENTS

Grade 8 Camp:

The grade 8 learners attended their induction camp from 3 feb – 5 feb. The camp was held at the Warthog inn adventure camp in Brits. They were welcomed with an obstacle course and zip lining to start of the weekend. The grade 8s spent time learning about working as a team, being supportive of one another as well as being a reliable person. They spent Friday night camping outside under the stars and went for an early morning game drive on Saturday where they were lucky to see some Impala, Wildebeest, Zebras and Giraffes. They also spent Saturday doing fun activities such as rifle shooting, archery, sling shooting and tug of war to name but a few. They cooled down in the afternoon at the mud pool before they had to go stalk the lantern. Learners gathered together for a motivation talk on Sunday morning where they were taught about identity, acceptance, empathy, compassion and love for others. The grade 8s were accompanied by their form class teachers Mr Potgieter, Mrs Van Den Berg and Miss Iyer as well as the grade 8 head Mr Van Niekerk. The prefects and the Head of prefects Mr Du Toit also attended the camp.
